MARECZKO VINCE LA TAPPA, LÓPEZ PERDE LA MAGLIA

Nella sesta tappa del Tour de Langkawi tocca a Jakub Mareczko (Southeast) aggiudicarsi la volata, continuando la scia delle vittorie italiane, precedendo lo slovacco Juraj Sagan (Tinkoff) e lo svizzero Dylan Page (Roth Skoda).
Cambio della guardia in classifica generale con Van Rensburg (Dimension Data) che approfitta della foratura occorsa a Miguel López (Astana) negli ultimi chilometri di gara e gli strappa la maglia di leader

Le attese di una tappa nervosa si sono realmente verificate, non per il percorso seppur mosso ma per le strade abbastanza strette e difettose e anche per il vento, sempre presente per tutti i 148 chilometri della corsa. Ritorna in queste condizioni al successo il bresciano Mareczko dopo quella discussa vittoria al Tour di San Luis, quando non mollò il comando nonostante dovesse passare Viviani. Stavolta la volata è stata pulita e la vittoria netta, con il secondo classificato, Juraj Sagan, distanziato di almeno una bicicletta.
Dal punto di vista altimetrico questa sesta tappa, con partenza da Putrajaya ed arrivo a Rembau, presentava un percorso non banale, con quattro gran premi delle montagna, due di quarta categoria e due di terza, inseriti in quest’ordine, con l’ultimo dei quali posto a 10 chilometri dal traguardo. Niente di trascendentale ma se si aggiungono anche i fattori strada e vento, la cornice si fa più interessante.
Nella prima parte di gara vanno prima in fuga in otto: Songezo Jim (Dimension Data), Michael Gogl (Tinkoff), James Oram (One Pro Cycling), Mirco Maestri (Bardiani-CSF), Tim Scully (Drapac), Gong Hyo Suk (KSPO), Amirul Mazuki (Terengganu) e Giuseppe Fonzi (Southeast). Successivamente di questo gruppetto di battistrada ne rimangono tre – Maestri, Gong e Gogl – ai quali si aggiungono strada facendo Adrien Niyonshuti (Dimension Data), Tanner Putt (Unitedhealthcare) e Julen Amezqueta (Southeast): il sestetto raggiungerà un vantaggio massimo mai superiore ai tre minuti.
Sull’ultima salita Gogl e Putt provano ad insistere ma vengono ripresi in discesa, negli ultimi sette chilometri, da un gruppo ancora folto, ma mancante del leader López, che fora proprio in questo tratto.
Complice una pericolosissima inversione ad U piazzata a 500 metri dal traguardo, la volata è davvero confusa, al contrario di Mareczko che parte al momento giusto e trionfa a braccia alzate sulla linea d’arrivo davanti a Sagan, Page, Murphy, Saleh, Macanally, Jones, Chicchi, Simion e Palini. López arriva a 35″ e la nuova classifica generale pone al comando Van Rensburg, che precede di 11″ Jaramillo e di 12″ lo sfortunato corridore colombiano.
